Our Story
Penland Builders was founded in 2000 by Robert Penland, whose passion for home building started early in life. After working as a carpenter and later a lead carpenter, Robert realized his true calling—creating custom homes that perfectly suit their owners’ needs. What started as a vision has grown into a trusted company with a reputation for quality, integrity, and exceptional craftsmanship.
Through the years, Penland Builders has faced challenges, including the 2008 housing market crash, which tested our resilience and strengthened our work ethic. We emerged stronger than ever, continuing to grow and deliver high-quality homes across Western North Carolina and North Georgia.
